OUT WEST

Make a trip to see the western U.S.A.!

NATIONAL PARKS

Vegas is the launch point for most National Park trips. And March is a great time to visit the national parks!! It will probably be less crowded than in the summer. Just keep in mind March can be a little chilly, especially in the evening so make sure to bring layers and even a jacket.

ZION NATIONAL PARK:

2 hours from Vegas and breath-takingly beautiful! One of my favorite national parks. You do not need a permit to enter Zion, but some of the most popular trails (e.g., Angel's Landing) do require a permit.

BRYCE NATIONAL PARK:

Known for structurally interesting and colorful rock formations! Super beautiful and perfect for a casual visitor, no extraneous hiking needed to enjoy! Also doesn't require a permit and pretty close to Zion.

MONUMENT VALLEY:

On Navajo Tribal Park (Native American), this area features a lot of the classic western scenery that you've probably seen in movies! There is a 17-mile road that goes through the park, but it is not paved (very bumpy and also parts without cell service). Even in normal conditions, this could be extremely difficult for a normal sedan and even more tricky if there’s bad weather. There is also a Native American-run museum near the entrance.

GRAND CANYON:

The one and only! You can easily reach by car and see the views. Beautiful to visit, but I have never hiked it (if you go down, you’ll have to come back up…).

DEATH VALLEY:

One of the most extreme and unique landscapes in the U.S. The lowest, hottest, and driest national park - it almost feels like mars. Check

out salt flats and colorful canyons. Bring lots of water and fuel, because services are sparse.

SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK:

Home to the famous General Sherman tree - at 2,200 years old, it one of the oldest and biggest tress on earth! You can drive through and there are small trails among the enormous sequoia trees.

MT. WHITNEY:

The tallest peak in the contiguous U.S., and the site of what was nearly the end of the Olivia's immediate family (just kidding)! Very strenuous to hike to the top, only for experienced hikers. Day hikes require a permit.

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK:

Where Olivia proposed to Josue!!! Outstanding waterfalls, famous mountains like El Capitan and Half Dome, beautiful meadows. Most hikes you can do without a permit.

INTRO

If you're coming to Vegas... why not make a trip of it? Here are some of our recommendations!

NEARBY CITIES

Vegas is really close to other great cities - a relatively cheap and short plane ride!

RENO (1h 25m plane ride):

The "biggest little city"! A great mix of casino, cowboy and Burning Man culture - all with the Sierra Nevadas in the background. Close to Tahoe, where there is also breath-taking skiing and hiking, all around a crystal clear alpine lake. Home of University of Nevada, Reno where Josue and his younger brother Erick went to college (go wolf pack! 🐺).

SAN FRANCISCO/BAY AREA (1h 40m plane ride):
Amazing food, nature, museums, 1920's speakeasies, gay culture, hyphy music, self-driving cars, wine country... the bay area has it all! Josue and Olivia's current home base! Let us know if you'd like to visit!

LOS ANGELES (1h 15m plane ride):

Hollywood, beaches, art districts, gluten-free veggie smoothies - what's not to love?!

SALT LAKE CITY (1h 25m plane ride):

For the lovers of mountains, skiing (probably still in season!) and amazing nature.
